That Saturday, Emma was out collecting some collectables from around town. She found this one that was particularly interesting. She quickly jumped up from the ground and turned to head back home when she ran right into someone! The next thing she knew she went tumbling back down to the ground with a loud “Thump!”
“Oh, are you okay?”
Said someone she didn’t recognize. Her vision was slightly blurred from the fall that she was a little dazed. “Here. Let me help you up.” Said the stranger with an outstretched hand. She just reacted. She reached up and grabbed his hand and he helped pull her to her feet.
He was really handsome. He had dark hair almost black, about her height His hand felt strong and rough. He must be a man who works with his hands. “I’m Don, Don Lathorio miss and you are?”
“I um. I’m Emma. Emma Lynne Hilton” Her voice shook a little when she said her name. Why is she so nervous? She’s used to talking with men and flirting. That’s just who she is.
“Why don’t I take you out?” he asked charmingly.
“Are you asking me on a date? So soon, we just met.” Emma blurted that out so quickly she couldn’t even stop herself.
“Think of it as… an apology for knocking you over today.” He smiled as he said those words. She got lost in his looks. “um, sure!” She didn’t hardly think about the answer, she just said it.
So the date was set up. They were going to go out tonight. He didn’t tell her where, said it was a surprise. I sure hope he’s not some psycho lady killer. That thought stopped her in her tracks. What if he is some psycho lady killer! She dropped her hair brush and sat down in the chair next to her. No, he’s not. He was to nice to be like that. I’m just scaring myself. After she got her self calmed down she finished getting ready.
Don took Emma out to the neighborhood park. It was a beautiful evening. A little chilly but it was really nice. They walked down the paths just talking. He reached over and grabbed her hand. She just let him. Then he stopped. He stopped walking and then turned to her. “I have something I need to tell you. Something that I think you need to know before we go any father with this relationship and I need to know where you stand in all of this”
Oh no! What is he going to tell her. “Okay. You can tell me. We need to be honest with each other from the start.”
Don looked down at the ground for a few minutes then looked up at her and began, “I’m married.” Emma’s gaze didn’t change. “My marriage hasn’t been going very well and we’ve kind of drifted apart. We are talking about separating. In fact I’ve even started looking for a new place to live. I wanted you to know that I am married but we are in the process of splitting up.”
Well looks like she doesn’t have to break up the marriage for this guy. Looks like he’s doing it all on his own. He looked into her eyes. He was searching. Looking for a reaction from her, needing to know what she thought. That’s when she took the plunge. She reached up to him and gave him a kiss.
“I, ah, take that as a yes to a question I hadn’t asked yet.” He said with a smile.
She looked up at him and told him that it was okay that he was married. The fact that he was leaving his wife was enough for her. As the sun started to set and the stars came out, they walked to the edge of the park. He opened the door for her to his car and she got in. They talked the whole way back to her place. He walked her up to her door and gave her a goodnight kiss.
Is Don the man Emma’s been looking for? Will this relationship last? Keep reading to find out!
