It had been about a week since Emma started her new job at the hospital. She is really loving her new job. She actually feels like she’s making a difference. Its been hard though, with work and classes. She has to do classes 3 times a week after work for 4 hours for each class. By the time the weekend comes she’s feeling pretty exhausted.
Its now Friday and she’s looking forward to the weekend. She had plans on going out on the town but didn’t have any plans on who she was going to spend it with. She’s thinking about asking Don if he was interested but he had told her prior that the weekends aren’t a good time for him because that’s when he’s expected to be home with his wife.
She’s sitting at her table in the kitchen, sipping some coffee when she happens to look up and sees what time it is. “Oh no! I’m gonna be late! I need to get out of here quickly!” She hurries up and jumps up out of the chair, knocking over her cup and spilling the coffee all down her scrubs. “NO! I don’t have time to change I gotta leave!” She runs out the door ignoring the big brown stain down the front of her right pant leg.
She runs into the hospital only minutes before her shift starts. Not really paying any attention to where she is going or who all is nearby. She turns her head just for a second to check the time on the lobby clock when she runs right into Watson, knocking both of them to the floor.
“Oomph!” Was like all the air got knocked out of both of them when they hit the floor. “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going. I’m running late and didn’t see you.”
“It will be okay if I can take you out this weekend.” He mentioned with a half grin on his face.
With out even thinking she just said sure and to have him call her with a time and place.
What did I just do? I’m with Don. Why did I just agree to go out with him? The only thing she figured was she just wasn’t paying any attention to what he was saying and his good looks just got in the way of her thinking straight.
Her day went by pretty quickly. The hospital was busy so there were lots of patients to attend to. She brought them meals, helped them to the restroom if needed and made up the beds. At least today there wasn’t any vomit to clean up. That’s one of the worst jobs, the one she hates doing the most.
Shortly before her shift was over, Watson found her in the break room taking a small break. He walked over to her as if it was nothing. He wasn’t even nervous. He talked smooth and calmly with out a worry in the world. He told her he was going to pick her up that evening around 6p.m. to take her out. He didn’t even tell her where. Now all she could think of for the last 2 hours of her shift was him. She couldn’t get him out of her mind.
Watson was on time picking her up. That’s a good thing that she has noticed so far about him. If he said he was going to do something or be somewhere he kept his word. He sure sounds like a good man.
He ended up taking her out to a restaurant in town and then to the movies. She didn’t realize he had actually asked her on a date. She assumed it was going to be friendly outing but he was a little more than just friendly. He was flirting with her more than she was flirting with him. She didn’t mind though, he made her feel good. She was glad she told him she would go out with him.
After the movie he drove her back home. He walked her to her door but instead of a good night kiss she just turned around and invited him inside. He didn’t hesitate, he accepted and walked in behind her holding the door open for her. He was such a gentleman. Not often do you still see chivalry anymore, very much needed these days. No one seems to have manners like they used to.
They didn’t get very far when he put his hand on her shoulder and she turned around. He held her hands and just gazed into her eyes.
Her heart was fluttering. Something about him just made her heart jump. It was so loud she felt as if he could here it jumping for him. With out even thinking she leaned forward and gave him a kiss!
He didn’t turn her down, he kissed back.
