Today is Derrick’s Birthday! Fiona is planning on inviting her sister, his parents and Alex over for the party. She is making a chocolate cake for him. He doesn’t know about the party just that Fiona is making him a cake. She thought this time she would surprise him with some family and friends. Their relationship hasn’t been doing the greatest. They don’t spend much time together and he hasn’t brought up the marriage topic in quite some time.
Derrick works till 6 today so this will give Fiona plenty of time to make a cake when she gets home and for the family and friends to get here prior to him getting home.
It was a little before 6 and everyone started to show up. Fiona closed the curtains and turned off some of the lights so Derick couldn’t see up in the apartment from the street when he got home.
“When he gets here we need to be very quiet and yell surprise when he walks in the door.” Fiona was hoping she could pull this off. She’s never thrown a surprise party before, she wasn’t sure how it all worked.
The taxi pulled up in front of the townhouse and Fiona peeked through the curtains. “He’s here!”
Everyone started getting into their places. Fiona didn’t want to turn off all of the lights because she knows that Derrick knows that she and Annalise are home and that it would be strange for all of the lights to be off this early.
As Derrick was walking up the stairs to their 4th floor apartment he kept thinking about how him and Fiona really need to talk. It just hasn’t been the same between them two. He’s not sure if this between them is going to work. She hardly talks to him, they hardly kiss or do anything romantic with each other. As he’s getting ready to walk in the apartment he’s thinking about the best way to end this relationship.
“SURPRISE!” Everyone comes out of their spots and really surprises Derrick. This was not something he was expecting. His parents were there, Robyn was there, Alex was there. Why is Alex here? Something about him just doesn’t sit right with me.
Derrick gets a big smile on his face and greets everyone. The party has begun.
Fiona brings out the cake for Derick to blow out the candles and everyone starts singing “Happy Birthday”
