It had been a few days since Fiona was caught with Alex by Annalise. That is all she has been able to think about. Should she tell Derrick or should she just keep it to herself and not say anything and just not ever see Alex again. Not telling him isn’t hurting him any. The less he knows probably the better. She was thinking to herself.
Later that day, Derrick had come home from work. He seemed pretty irritated. Maybe work didn’t go very well for him today. Fiona thought she could maybe make him feel better by talking with him.
“How was work today? Everything okay?”
Derrick just kind of looked at her, almost with disgust in his face. Something’s not right. She knows this isn’t like him. “I know something is on your mind. Talk to me about it. Please?”
All Derrick could think about was what he was hearing around town while he was out patrolling today. The town’s folk was gossiping. He has no idea how they would know anything of the sorts but the rumor is that Fiona is having an affair with her co-worker Alex.
“There is something I want to talk to you about.” He said looking at Fiona. “What is going on with you and Alex? Tell me the truth. Is there something your not telling me?”
Oh no! He knows! How could he know! I’ve never done anything in public!
Fiona had a shocked look on her face. She walked over to the couch and sat down. Derrick walked over. He wasn’t going to let her not answer his question. “Fiona.”
She looked up at him, he already knows, she might as well be honest with him.
“After everything that happened after Annalise was born, I felt like I couldn’t talk to you about it, about how I felt. I was really getting lonely and you felt so distant. Alex started working at my job when Annalise was a toddler. After I got moved over to his department and was next to him we talked. We talked a lot. He helped me feel better and I thought it was going to be better. Then a couple of weeks ago he came over. Was having problems with his wife….” Fiona was trailing off.
Derrick stopped listening right after she told him that Alex was at their apartment, alone with her while he was at work. I can’t believe this! I knew I felt something was off with that guy! I knew I shouldn’t of trusted him!
Derrick realized Fiona was still talking and was back to listening to what she was saying.
“…..The next thing I knew we were kissing. I didn’t refuse, I kissed back. I’m so sorry Derrick! Please Derrick say something!”
